We celebrated Christmas in Colorado this year. It was our first Christmas in our new house, and it was a memorable one to be sure. On Christmas eve we went on a ride on the "North Pole Express Train." We drove to Canyon City to board the train. Guests were encouraged to board the train in their PJ's ( to mimic the movie "The Polar Express"). So before the girls got on the train they got to open a present...you can guess what was in it...new PJ's.
The girls had a great time on the train, we all received a cup of hot cocoa and a cookie. Then the girls played games with the elves in our train car, and looked out the window as we passed through the "North Pole", they even had a visit from Santa who gave each of them a special bell ornament for our tree.
After our train ride we went to Chili's to have Christmas dinner. It was delicious and the girls were in a great mood, which always makes family outings more fun! We drove home and had a quick family devotional and put the last ornament on our tree from our "25 Days of Christ" box (it is a new family tradition we are doing at Christmas time....it's super cool...look it up). Afterwards the girls set out cookies and milk and scampered off to bed. It was the quickest either of them got ready for bed (I LOVE that about Christmas).
The next morning we had a great time opening presents. Both were thrilled with their Santa gifts (Graycie got an electric razor scooter, and Kenzie got a battery powered moped). The rest of the day we spent riding bikes and scooters, playing with presents, and eating yummy food. That evening we went to a friends house for Christmas dinner. It was a wonderful, relaxing day.
After Christmas we headed to Utah where we got to see our Utah family. It was a wonderful Christmas break. It was a perfect reminder at the close of another year, that the most valuable things in life are the ones we love.
